Pet-Friendly Stays in Hampshire
Bring Your Dog to Oakley Hall
We may be bias when we say that Hampshire truly is one of England’s most breath-takingly beautiful counties. With a rich history, three cities, two maritime ports, plenty of quaint countryside villages and two national parks – it really is the county that has it all.
One of the biggest and most significant reasons as to why Hampshire is one of the best counties in the UK for dog-friendly countryside breaks is because of its natural beauty. Over 45% of the county is covered by the South Downs (which stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne) and the New Forest national parks, each of which are totally unique. The South Downs offers chalky hills and ancient woodlands whilst the New Forest is home to hundreds of acres of heathland and native wild ponies.
Hampshire is just a stone’s throw away from central London (less than an hour’s drive to be specific) yet it’s tranquillity and naturistic qualities make you feel like you’re in an entirely different country. It’s easy to understand why so many dog owners come to visit Hampshire all year round.
Oakley Hall Hotel: A Truly Dog-Friendly Country House
Oakley Hall Hotel is a dog-friendly hotel in Hampshire, welcoming dogs to a selection of designated rooms in our one-of-a-kind Courtyard. Our Georgian manor home, which was once frequently visited by the novelist Jane Austen during the 1800’s, is nestled within over 300 acres of estate gardens and woodlands – providing you and your pup with the perfect space to explore, sniff and exercise together.
As well as our hotel facilities and surroundings, our staff are what make Oakley Hall stand out to our guests – including our furry guests! Our friendly and calm approach to your four-legged friends ensures that you are as comfortable and relaxed as you can be during your visit, whether that be with someone special, as a family or for a long weekend!
Dog-Friendly Rooms Designed for Comfort & Convenience
Oakley Hall isn’t just a hotel for you and your pups to stay in. It’s a home-away-from-home that provides a relaxed and cozy environment for you all to enjoy. We have a selection of dog-friendly bedrooms in our Courtyard, which offer easy access to our grounds, private parking right outside your door and just that little bit of privacy from the Main Hotel.
But that’s not all. Each and every pup will be welcomed with open arms. In your room on arrival will be a dog bed, blanket, water & food bowls, treats and waste bags. It’s just as important to us that your pup enjoys their stay as much as you do!
If you would like to bring your dog with you for your stay, each dog will be charged at £35 per stay, with a maximum of two dogs per bedroom or suite. This fee covers the costs for your dog’s goodies and for a thorough cleaning procedure to take place once you have checked out.
Woodland Walks & Countryside Adventures on Your Doorstep
Whether you’ve visited Oakley Hall before or if you’re simply researching prior to your first visit, one thing you should absolutely know for you and your pup is that we are surrounded by beautiful countryside! Quite literally, it is on your doorstep – no need to drive anywhere!
Our Georgian manor house is home to over 300 acres of estate gardens and woodlands. So if you’re looking for a light stroll within our gardens or a lengthy walk that goes beyond the Oakley Hall grounds, there’s something for every guest and pup to enjoy. You might even run into the original Ha-Ha Sunken Wall of the property, two secoya trees which were imported from America by the original owners of the property in the 1800’s and the 34,000 square foot Kitchen Garden. There is undeniably more than enough countryside and history for you to enjoy during your stay with us.
As can be expected in the depths of the Hampshire countryside, alongside the flora comes the fauna. Quite often, you will see hares, rabbits, squirrels, deer, and muntjacs making themselves at home. Dogs are welcome to be off the lead within the grounds of Oakley Hall; we just ask that all of the local wildlife is respected as much as possible. This includes our residential honey bees, which are located in the Kitchen Garden!
Dining with Your Dog at Oakley Hall
As a family-owned and run business, we understand that it just wouldn’t be the same for some if you couldn’t take your pup with you for your dining experience, whether it be for a meal in the evening, an Afternoon Tea during the day or for a traditional Sunday Roast. And so, each and every canine companion is welcome at the Glasshouse Restaurant.
In the restaurant, we have a dog-friendly designated area that gives you and your pups a little privacy from other guests who are dining. If the sun is shining, dogs are also welcome on our Garden Terrace, which overlooks the beautiful estate grounds.
To respect you, your pups and our other dining guests, all we ask is that your dogs are on their leads during your dining experience. If your dog is having a funny five minutes whilst in the restaurant, a member of our staff will discreetly ask you to take your pup outside so they can have a breath of fresh air to calm down.
A Dog-Friendly Stay for Every Season
Hampshire is a breath-taking and picturesque county to visit in any season throughout the year. From pleasant Springtime walks in the gardens with the daffodils blooming and Summer picnics with the sun warming your face to crisp Winter walks and golden hued views during the Autumn months, any season is as good as the last in our county.
But it’s not just the outdoors that embraces the seasons the county has to offer. The hotel itself thrives on adapting to suit the season. Whether it be wide open restaurant terrace doors and refreshing speciality cocktails for the warmer months to hearty dishes in the Glasshouse Restaurant and glasses of mulled wine when it’s colder – you can enjoy your Hampshire stay in any season!
