An Elegant Countryside Wedding – A New Era for Wedding Inspiration
“In with the with old, out with the new.” That’s how the saying goes, right? It’s strange to think of the concept of wedding trends, but they’re here and they’re here to stay! No matter the year, there will always be a trend for every part of your wedding; venues, dresses, colour schemes, dining experiences and entertainment. 2025 sees hometown weddings, chic and simple decor, personalisation, flexibility and interactive experiences for guests. Look no further, for we’ve got it all covered below!
Embracing Hometown Elegance
As a family-owned wedding venue, we understand the importance of family and home. So it was no surprise to us when we first heard that ‘hometown weddings’ are on the rise. The times are nearly over for destination weddings and travelling hours away from home. Understandably, couples want to say their ‘I do’s’ at a meaningful location – so what better spot is there to tie the knot in front of all of your loved ones than at your home town?
Our team likes to say that Oakley Hall is a ‘home-away-from-home’ for our couples. Although grand on first impressions, the moment you step through our doors, you can’t help but feel relaxed, comforted and at home. The smiling faces from our team, the charming ambience and the cosy environment is what make Oakley Hall stand out.
Timeless Over Themes
Weddings twenty or thirty years ago were all about the bold colours, over-the-top decorations and LED fairy lights. Weddings are steering more towards chic styles, simple decor and elegant colour schemes. Picture pastel pinks and sage greens, bouquets of neutrally coloured flowers and candles on every surface. It’s all about simplicity and elegance. We’re even seeing couples intertwine their decorations with the interiors of the venue, ensuring that their colour scheme matches the room they choose to celebrate in.
Whether you’ve taken a peek at Oakley Hall online or on Instagram or if you’ve been to visit our venue in person, you can’t help but notice the timeless style that’s gracefully carried throughout the manor house. Georgian features are showcased throughout the venue including ornate fireplaces, immaculate parquet wooden flooring and decorative ceiling mouldings. Each of the function rooms at Oakley Hall is unique in style and character, giving you the perfect blank canvas for your wedding ideas.
Sustainable Celebrations
Our team is dedicated to providing couples with a wedding venue that takes sustainability seriously and, as an independent business, we can create our own practises that best suit the needs of the company and our guests.
The Oakley Hall 315 acre estate provides us with the opportunity to support the local Hampshire wildlife. Our team of Grounds Keepers and Gardeners strive to actively protect & rewild our gardens. We also home-grow fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers in our onsite Kitchen Garden, some of which are used in the dishes served to our wedding guests! We’ve even welcomed our very own bee hives to further support our gardens and local surroundings.
All members of our team are conscious of the company’s carbon footprint and actively work together to reduce waste and cut down on resources. Sending used oil to biomass incinerators, recycling & reusing paper and installing motion sensor LED lighting throughout the property are just few examples of how Oakley Hall are working towards reducing our carbon footprint.
Fluid Wedding Timelines
It’s important to so many couples today that their wedding is tailored to them and doesn’t have a set structure that’s been done so many times before at other weddings. Later afternoon ceremonies, bespoke dining experiences and unique entertainment are all on the rise for our 2025 and 2026 weddings.
Our team like to think of our venue as a canvas for our couples where they can create the wedding of their dreams. From intimate celebrations with less than 20 guests to weekend-long parties that involve various ceremonies and get-togethers, we can work with you to design an unforgettable day for you, your partner and your guests.
Film Photography Revival
It’s no surprise to us that film wedding photography is back, and it’s better than ever. Technology has been hard at work over the last few years and the quality of photography and videography today is jaw-dropping. Gone are the days of fuzzy pictures and pixelated videos!
Our team strongly recommends a high-quality photographer and videographer to capture as many moments of your wedding as possible. Depending on what you are looking for, you can book each supplier separately or many individuals offer both services. For two-in-ones (photographer and videographer) we cannot recommend Darren Lovell Photo & Film and Jacques Lloyd Photography enough. Both capture ‘in the moment’ moments, which will leave you smiling for all the years to come after your wedding. Jasmine Andrews Photography is an incredibly talented photographer who provides undeniably elegant photo albums for her couples. Her style too is laid-back but the quality is exceptional. For couples looking for a videographer, one of our personal favourites is Movement Media Weddings who can magically capture every single smiling face in the scene!
Statement Bridal Fashion
For so many, the dress is one of the most important parts of the wedding day. It’s a way for brides to express their personalities whilst upholding a timeless British tradition. Like all clothing, trends can be seen in wedding dresses from puffy princess dresses with an off-the-shoulder strap in the 90s to strapless gowns with hints of lace in the 2000s. The last few years have seen figure-hugging shapes with mesh, lace and floral decorations.
2025 wedding dress styles embrace bold choices from our brides, including corseted gowns, sparkling embellishments, drop waists and uniquely textured fabrics. The magical setting of Oakley Hall and its 300 acres of gardens provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding day pictures, which will of course showcase the dress! The grand Georgian Library, with dimmed lighting and dark mahogany wood, is the perfect spot to capture the sparkles from sequins and gems on dresses. Meanwhile, the Garden Suite and Garden Pavilion offer the perfect overhead lighting for your professional photos. The south-facing estate gardens of Oakley Hall are consumed by natural sunlight throughout the day, offering even more spots for your wedding photography. Whilst the magical woodlands set a dramatic and mysterious setting for your couple’s shots.
Getting the Guests Involved
Today’s weddings are more than just formality and tradition. Celebration, memories and experience are all at the forefront of our couple’s priorities when planning their special days.
Entertainment is one way in which our brides & grooms are getting creative with their weddings. Live singers, bands & musicians are the perfect way to add even more ambience to a ceremony, drinks reception or evening party. We’ve even welcomed singing waiters to Oakley Hall, which is a great surprise for guests!
Many couples like to evoke nostalgia at their weddings, so it’s we often see garden games on our estate, bouncy castles in the grounds and disposable cameras on the tables. Whilst the smiling faces and laughter from guests show just how much fun they’re having; it’s always entertaining for us to see too - especially the tumbles on the bouncy castles!
Personalised and Themed Decor
As mentioned before, it’s so important to brides and grooms that they can tailor their days to suit them and their guests - which also includes personalised decor and stationary. More often than not, we’re setting up engraved mirror table plans, packs of confetti with the initials of the couple and photo frames or boards with childhood pictures of the bride and groom. It always amazes our team just how creative couples can be with their wedding day!
Weekend-Long Celebrations
Why celebrate your wedding in just one day, when you can celebrate it in two or three! With so many combining factors to consider for your wedding, including guest travel times, order of the day and family celebrations, it’s no surprise that couples want to spread out the party into multiple days to allow their guests to relax and take part in multiple social events.
Oakley Hall is the perfect setting for a weekend-long wedding. With 50 beautiful bedrooms for you and your guests to choose from, each night you can unwind in your own king-size bed and wake up the following morning to enjoy breakfast all together. Our venue is home to multiple function spaces for you to host your celebrations, whether it be an arrival dinner for the family the night before, a welcome brunch the morning of or a post-wedding breakfast (with all those sore heads!). Our team can work with you to design the wedding of your dreams.
Pastel Yellow Bridesmaid Dresses: A 2025 Favourite
Patel yellow is proving popular for 2025 weddings. This beautiful hue is the true representation of the countryside, bringing fresh and cheerful vibes to any wedding day. Whilst the yellow palette delicately complements any of the ceremony rooms at Oakley Hall, it’s a colour that stands out within our gardens and grounds during wedding photography. As a personal favourite to our team, we would always recommend a pastel yellow colour palette for weddings at Oakley Hall!
