Jane Austen stays

Step into the world of Jane Austen

What better way is there to celebrate Jane Austen than by walking (and perhaps staying!) in the footsteps that Austen once took herself! We invite you to Oakley Hall Hotel, our beautiful Georgian architecture manor house nestled in the stunning North Hampshire countryside. With jaw-dropping original features dotted throughout the house, including parquet wooden flooring and ornate fireplaces, it's very easy for you to immerse yourself into Jane Austen's world.

Oakley Hall was built in 1795 by Wither Bramston, who was in fact good friends with Jane Austen! Him and his wife, Mrs Bramston, would often have Austen to visit the manor house as their guest. This is evidenced in Austen's letters that she wrote to her sister Cassandra. It's believed that Lady Bertram, the character from Mansfield Park, was based on Mrs Bramston.
