The way the spaces interlinked (bar, garden suite and library) and the atmospheric light in the rooms along with the high quality decor and period detail was beautiful (The dance floor in the garden suite, and opening up the partition later, also worked well) The opportunity to use the terrace and the grounds, plus the quiet location was also relevant to our choice, and the cottage was a bonus. The opportunity to customise your wedding offer to our needs was a factor in our decision.

What made Oakley Hall stand out for you as a wedding venue?

The orange colour theme was a family favourite and related to the Autumn season. The rooms lent themselves well to this theme.

What inspired you to choose the decor & colour scheme of your wedding?

The small, personal ceremony in the Library was a moving event. The registrar was lovely and our family all complimented the staff on their polite interactions. The sunshine helped make things magical. The whole day went seamlessly (Noel was great - discreet and supportive).

What was the most memorable part of your day?

The unusual box topiary garden was fun! There were lots of photo opportunities at the stables, out the front, on the terrace and on the steps. Also the lovely staircase and balcony are charming.

Where was your favourite photo spot?

Having all our family gathered together was wonderful, and knowing there were no other weddings/clay shoot parties etc made it all seem very personal, relaxed and special. Use of the Alton room meant we could all be together on site prior to the wedding. We planned everything in great detail to get things how we wanted and were able to work with Oakley Hall to have three phases of arrivals throughout the day. Importantly for us, we were allowed to get the rooms set up the night before. Allowing us to provide our own background music was brilliant and enhanced the atmosphere. The timings of the music were excellent and on cue, it all went smoothly. (If possible playing background music - where appropriate- in more than one room would be even better)

What made your day extra special?

Work with the staff to establish what you need, keep communications open throughout. Get a good photographer! Spend time considering how you can personalise and enhance the rooms, to get the most out of the day and create a beautiful atmosphere. Make the most of open events at Oakley Hall to see how the rooms could work for you. Doing things yourself is viable but you will need lots of help from friends and family. Enjoy ALL of it! We made the right choice in choosing Oakley Hall for our wedding.

Do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?

Everyone enjoyed all courses - salmon followed by chicken and mango sorbet. The team serving us on the day were great. We enjoyed doing the taster meal which helped us to decide.

Tell us about your wedding breakfast. What was your favourite dish?
