Wedding Co-Ordinator: Sinead

A truly unique Micro Wedding at Oakley Hall in early June. Philip & Lynn fell in love with the history of Oakley Hall, especially the strong connection to the English novelist Jane Austen. They opted for a Jane Austen themed wedding, that saw the couple tying the knot and indulging in a 3 course wedding breakfast with their children.

The building itself and grounds are outstanding but the helpfulness and organisational skills of, firstly Sinead and, on the day. Ben - both of whom made sure everything was carefully planned beforehand and executed perfectly.

What made Oakley Hall stand out for you as a wedding venue?

Probably the library and the connection to Jane Austen.

What inspired you to choose the decor & colour scheme of your wedding?

Ours was a micro wedding, just seven in total, the two of us plus our sons and daughter plus their partners. We are spread over different countries so just getting together for a celebration which went on late into the evening was amazing. What helped that along was that everything, from the days beginning, went absolutely smoothly, staff were amazing; the registrars were kind and friendly; the photo opportunities inside and outside the building were beautiful; the meal - not a scrap was left on a single plate, and the evening filled with a lot of laughter.

What was the most memorable part of your day?

Probably those taken in the grounds. It was a beautiful day, the colour of the trees; the sky; the long grass (and the wheat in the neighbours field!); Oakley as a background; all added up to some amazing pictures.

Where was your favourite photo spot?

Well, obviously having all our adult children in the same place for two days meant a lot to us, but as far as Oakley is concerned, Ben made everything seem special, he was kind; funny; put us at ease; was totally professional, nothing was too much trouble in ensuring that everything we had planned with Sinead happened exactly as and when we wanted.

What made your day extra special?

Make early contact with the wedding planner who will provide immeasurable help in not only ensuring all your wants are covered, but will have suggestions about things you haven't yet thought about. If at all possible, visit the venue well beforehand and see the rooms for yourself. It will help visualise what (and where) you will be on the day.

Do you have any top tips for other couples planning their wedding?

The one desert that six out of seven chose was the Chocolate, however as mentioned earlier, there was not a scrap of any of the three courses that was left on any plate. Every guest agreed that not only were the meals cooked to perfection, they were beautifully presented, so please relay our thanks to both the kitchen and waiting folk who prepared and delivered our meal and drinks.

Tell us about your wedding breakfast. What was your favourite dish?
